 India–Sint Maarten Trade and Investment Roundtable held alongside Consular Camp

Sint Maarten — The Embassy of India in The Hague, in collaboration with the Indian Merchants Association (IMA), Sint Maarten, organised a Trade and Investment Roundtable in Sint Maarten on 21 August 2026, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs and members of the business community to explore opportunities for strengthening economic and commercial ties between India and Sint Maarten and the wider Caribbean region.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Mr. Kumar Tuhin, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, highlighted India’s robust economic growth, expanding manufacturing capabilities and growing importance as a destination for global trade and investment. He underscored the significance of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement and the upgradation of India–Netherlands relations to a strategic partnership following the recent visit of the Prime Minister of India to the Netherlands.  He also outlined the opportunities available to businesses in Sint Maarten to develop stronger commercial linkages with India, including sourcing products from Indian manufacturers and exporters, exploring investment partnerships and establishing direct business-to-business cooperation.

During the discussions, representatives of the local business community shared their perspectives on the requirements and opportunities in Sint Maarten and neighbouring countries. Participants discussed ways to build stronger connections between businesses in the region and Indian businessmen, manufacturers and industry associations, with a view to facilitating mutually beneficial business partnerships.

The Roundtable concluded with an emphasis on maintaining regular engagement and pursuing specific follow-up opportunities.

Consular Camp

During the visit of the officials from the Embassy of India in The Hague, a two-day Consular Camp in Sint Maarten was also organised.  A number of Sint Maarteners benefited from the camp, receiving consular services locally and having their queries addressed. The initiative provided members of the local community with convenient access to consular services and an opportunity to discuss a range of consular matters directly with Embassy officials.

The Trade and Investment Roundtable, together with the Consular Camp, underscored the Embassy’s continued engagement with the local community and business stakeholders in Sint Maarten and its commitment to strengthening people-to-people, commercial and economic ties between India and Sint Maarten.
