• A major Indian Science and Technology Day was organized by the Embassy at the Brainport and High Tech Centre of the Netherlands on March 26, 2018. The speakers at the event included the Mayor of Eindhoven, Prof. Dr. Uri Rosenthal, Chairman of the Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Innovation to the Government of the Netherlands and former Foreign Minister, the Deputy Director General, Enterprise and Innovation, Ministry of Economic Affairs; Member of the Executive Board, NWO (equivalent of CSIR); Mr. Jeroen Tas, Executive Vice President, Philips; Dr. D. Smit, Chief Scientist & Vice President, Dutch/Shell etc. The event was a huge success and well attended by around 200 stakeholders in the science, technology and innovation space who can potentially invest in R&D in India. An Advisory Letter on strengthening Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation between India and the Netherlands prepared by the Advisory Board for Science, Technology and Innovation (AWTI) was presented to the Ambassador Venu Rajamony by Prof. Dr. Uri Rosenthal,on the occasion.

• India’s 70th Republic Day Reception held along with high profile exhibition on “Life of Buddha”.The King’s Commissioner for Drenthe Ms Jetta Klijnsma and Mayor Jan van Zanen of Utrecht were the Guests of honour at India’s diplomatic reception hosted by Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, H.E. Mr. Venu Rajamony on 26th January to mark the 70th Republic Day of India. The reception was held for the second consecutive year in the historic Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, which is venue for Dutch royal investiture ceremonies, most recently that of King Willem Alexander in 2013. This was also the venue of the royal wedding of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

• Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr Pinarayi paid a visit to the National Archives of the Netherlands to view items in their collection pertaining to the Dutch presence in Kerala in the 17th century and held discussions on digitizing Dutch records in the possession of Kerala State Archives. The CM commence a four-nation tour of Europe with a visit to the Netherlands from May 8-12, 2019 at the invitation of the Dutch Government to explore possibilities of cooperation in water management, flood prevention and agriculture

• Bollywood on a Boat’, a novel initiative to promote tourism to India on King’s Day - April 27, (the biggest national holiday of the Netherlands) was a huge success for a second year in a row. Daring the rain and the wind, around 50,000 revellers in boats and on the banks of the Canals witnessed the colorful sight of the boat sailing with Indian dancers inviting people to travel to India.

• Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur visited the Netherlands from June 13-14, 2019 to promote “Rising Himachal”, Global Investors’ Meet taking place from November 7-8, 2019 at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. A delegation comprising State Industries Minister Bikram Singh and senior officials of the State Government as well as select companies from Himachal Pradesh accompanied the Chief Minister.The CM and his delegation visited the prestigious GreenTech Exhibition at Amsterdam and interacted with horticulture companies and experts from around the world.

• The prestigious Dam Square Amsterdam was witness to the largest ever yoga celebrations in the Netherlands on Sunday, June 16. A great multitude gathered in front of the Royal Palace on Dam Square in the heart of the capital city of the Netherlands to mark International Yoga Day.The event was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr. Jai Ram Thakur. Himachal Industries Minister Bikram Singh, Ambassador Venu Rajamony, International Cricket Star Suresh Raina, Dutch actor, model and photographer Ms. Micky Hoogendijk; Mr. V.K. Arora, Chairman and Managing Director of LT Foods and Dr. Deepak Mittal, Chairman, International Tractors Ltd. took part in the opening ceremony. Representatives of the Royal Dutch army also joined the celebrations for the first time. They participated in the group common yoga protocol session and also led the public in a special yoga workshop.

• External Affairs Minister of India Dr.S.Jaishankar visited the Netherlands from November 9-11, 2019. During the visit,Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Dutch Foreign Minster Stef Blok for comprehensive discussions on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest. He also interacted with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament and Dutch dignitaries across the political spectrum.
